Metalsmithing

Forge and Fire

There are few things more intimidatingly beautiful than a woman wielding a torch!  And I cannot deny I feel pretty tough when I am working with fire!

When I am working a piece of metal whether its by forming and shaping, sawing, doming, foldforming, drilling, soldering, texturing, or stamping, there is a genuine feeling of pride mixed with a little bit of awe when it transforms from a cold piece of metal into this living breathing piece of art.

I do have to admit that I thought it would be an easy art to learn but I am finding that it is exactly the opposite!

My plans are to create a blog series that will chronicle my journey through the realms of  all the many mediums that I love so much!  If I get crazy I may try my hand at a few Youtube video tutorials but for now....I am satisfied with just me, myself and I in my studio working away....

Below are the basic Tools and supplies that I use when creating my pieces. I also added an intermediate and advanced tool list for when you get confortable with metalsmithing.   Some of the images contain affiliate links to items I use and the places where I have purchased them from. I do receive a small percentage from your purchase through those affiliate companies at no additional cost to you. If you do purchase through one of the links below, thank you! I greatly appreciate your support, but I will always encourage you to shop around to find the best price that works for you.

My Resources For Tools & Supplies

Precious Metals

Rio Grande -  I purchase most of my metals from Rio Grande.  They  also carry almost any item you need to do the job when it comes to metalsmithing!

Halstead Beads - This is another reputable company where I will purchase a lot of my gallery wire and other findings and things.  They sometimes have designs that Rio doesn't carry.

Gems & Beads

Dakota Stones -  This is an easily accessed source for your more common gemstones and beads that I use in some of my jewelry.

I also have several private individuals that I order from .  I have done my research and have created good working relationships with some in other countries as well as right here in the US.
